Kibos Home of Hope
In many cases orphans infected/affected by HIV / AIDS in Nyalenda lack a conducive environment and the challenges, temptations and threads the children are facing pre-emptive the supporting efforts of DACP.
That's is why Mary, the treasurer of NGO DACP decided to take in some of the most vulnerable children into her home. As of now (April 2012) twenty orphans call the house and compound their home. Kibos home is located a few hundred metres south east of Kibos village some 10km east of the centre of Kisumu, Nyanza, Kenya. The house and property are owned by Mary and her husband Dirk who mercifully share it with the children. Three workers (partly volunteering, partly paid) are helping by cooking, cleaning, caring and maintaining.
The orphans living in the home have three balanced meals a day. Sixteen orphans are attending school (Saint Francis Nursery and Primary School) in the neighbourhood. Four orphans are in secondary schools (Rae Girls, Ngere High) around Kisumu and spend their holidays at home.
